Korean carmaker Hyundai debuted the Blue-Will for the first time in North America at the annual Detroit Auto Show.
First unveiled last year at the Seoul Motor Show, the Blue-Will is a rolling laboratory which could represent the path the carmaker will be taking in the future in developing its compact sedans.
The futuristic body hides the inner workings of the first plug-in hybrid created by Hyundai. To recharge the batteries the Blue-Will has a glass roof with built in solar cells, as well as a thermal generator that converts exhaust gas into electricity. It also features electric steering controls and numerous dash board controls through a touch screen that drivers will have to learn to use.
According to the manufacturer, the Blue-Will could even end up in large scale production possibly as a hybrid. It is suggested it could be to Hyundai what the Prius has been to Toyota.
