For years e-mail spam has been an inconvenience. It’s something that gets sent every day, but most junk mail filters can pick it out. But a new report by McAfee has shown that spam has been more than an inconvenience to you or me, it has been a plague on the environment too. The energy consumption created by spam every year is equivalent to what it would take to power 2.4 million homes, or the equivalent greenhouse gases produced by 3.1 million cars. The good news is that spam filters are able to save you from the trouble of picking through your e-mail, and they save energy overall. Click here to take a look at the whole McAfee report, and to find some effective spam filters you can install to make your e-mail a little greener.
