Chicago McDonald’s Builds Efficient And Green Restaurant

A new McDonald’s built on the south side of Chicago has rebuilt itself to be an efficient and green building, despite being crammed into the industrial side of the city. For starters, they’ve installed energy and water saving gadgets, high efficiency appliances, tables and chairs made out of recycled materials, a green garden roof, and coolest of all, pavement that filters rainwater. Not only do these upgrades give the restaurant a hand-up in their monthly bills, but it’s also a great way to attract customers who have the environment on their mind (not like McDonald’s needs it). Best of all, the huge restaurant chain plans to take the most successful features being tested at the Chicago location and implement them at all locations throughout the US. Hopefully this helps their attempt to receive LEED certification in the near future.
