An organization called the OPEN Prototype Initiative has joined with industry partners to make homebuilding more affordable and environmentally friendly by standardizing the building process, and in the process, reducing waste that is disposed of at a traditional work site. In addition to cleaning up the building process, OPEN is also confident that they can mass produce Net Zero homes, that only use as much energy as they produce. By making this an Open Project, these new building technologies are available for anyone in the industry to take advantage of, and get a quick outline for energy efficient walls, windows, and how to make the best use of lighting and air flow.
