The United States may soon have a new rival in the global wind competition, and it’s none other than Bulgaria. Recently, many energy companies from all over the world have been setting up shop in Bulgaria to make use of its unique geography and border on the Black Sea.
The United States may soon have a new rival in the global wind competition, and it’s none other than Bulgaria. Recently, many energy companies from all over the world have been setting up shop in Bulgaria to make use of its unique geography and border on the Black Sea. Most recently, the well-known American energy company General Electric has expressed interest in investing over $1 billion to create a wind farm of their own in the European nation. A farm that big would be capable of generating up to 500 megawatts of power, which is a booming increase from Bulgaria’s current wind power production of 70 MW. If the plan goes into place, Bulgarians can expect the town of Mirkovo to be the most likely location, but if the European Union really plans to increase its renewable energy by 16% in 11 years, we should expect to see many more locations expanding their green power potential soon.
